Hi, my name is Mira. I’m a seer, though I’d rather not have this gift. From the reading table in my shop, The Right Place, I follow Luna’s story.
Luna is a twenty-one-year-old daydreamer from an ordinary world, where no one knows other realities exist. Her life is much like yours and mine: bills, friends, family and a head full of questions no one has the answers to. Until the day a door opens that should never have been there, and she takes a step she can’t take back.
Strange things are happening to the water. There’s a suitcase that isn’t what it seems. There’s a guild that watches over the borders between realities, and a boy with a dry sense of humour and far too many secrets.
I see it all in my visions, whether I like it or not. I’ll tell you her story as it unfolds: chapter by chapter, week by week. Not as some omniscient narrator who already has all the answers, but as someone watching live, getting far too invested, and occasionally finding it genuinely impossible to keep quiet.
A Leap in the Dark is the first instalment of Portals & Paths.
I can’t tell you how it ends, because I don’t know that myself yet. I have to obey the four laws of clairvoyant narratorship, you see, and law number four says: Don’t read ahead. The future is a closed book.
But I do know one thing: this story has begun, and it won’t stop until it’s over.
*Portals & Paths is a fantasy story for young adult and adolescent and adult readers and contains occasional violence and darker themes. Chapters that are more intense than usual carry a content warning at the top.

Mijn naam is Mayra. Ik ben waarzegster, al had ik die gave liever niet gehad. Aan mijn leestafel in mijn winkel, De Juiste Plek, volg ik het verhaal van Luna.
Luna is een dromerige twintiger uit een gewone wereld, waar niemand weet dat er andere realiteiten bestaan. Ze heeft een leven zoals jij en ik: rekeningen, vrienden, familie en een hoofd vol vragen waar niemand antwoord op geeft. Tot de dag waarop een deur opengaat die er niet had mogen zijn, en ze een stap zet waarvan ze niet kan terugkeren.
Er gebeuren vreemde dingen met het water. Er is een koffer die niet is wat hij lijkt. Er is een gilde dat waakt over de grenzen tussen realiteiten en een jongen met droge humor en te veel geheimen.
Ik zie het allemaal in mijn visioenen, of ik nu wil of niet. Ik vertel je haar verhaal zoals het zich ontvouwt: hoofdstuk voor hoofdstuk, week na week. Niet als een alwetende verteller die alle antwoorden al heeft, maar als iemand die live meekijkt, meeleeft, en zich af en toe echt niet kan inhouden.
Een Sprong in het Duister is het eerste deel van Poorten en Paden.
Ik kan je niet vertellen hoe het afloopt, omdat ik dat zelf nog niet weet. Ik moet me namelijk houden aan de vier vertelwetten en wet nummer vier luidt: De toekomst is een gesloten boek. Lees niet vooruit.
Maar één ding weet ik wél: dit verhaal is begonnen, en het stopt pas als het uit is.
*Poorten & Paden is een fantasyverhaal voor jongvolwassen en volwassen lezers en bevat af en toe geweld en duistere thema's. Bij hoofdstukken die intenser zijn dan gebruikelijk, vind je bovenaan een inhoudswaarschuwing.

Hi, I’m Jasmine, born and raised in the Netherlands. Same vintage as Taylor Swift. I’ve been writing stories since I was a child, but this is the first one I’ve dared to share.
In another reality I might have been a marine biologist. Or a sommelier. Maybe I’d rescue stray dogs, or have big curly hair. In this reality, I’m a solo traveller, a proud auntie, a cheese lover and hopelessly addicted to my mini trampoline.
I believe in the power of imagination. I can’t open portals to other realities (not yet 😉), but a good story does pretty much the same thing.
